It takes place in the future and focuses on a galactic war with battles on the surface of moons and different planets. The game supports both Single and Multiplayer modes. Total Annihilation mixes the elements of Strategy, Sci-fi, Retro, and Real-time Strategy developed by Cavedog Entertainment. Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots offer core features such as immersive traditional RTS gameplay, cool features, and smooth controls. The player has to deploy his units, battle enemies and effort to eliminate their members, destroy the structures and units to victory. It has a customizable multiplayer mode, in which up to 8-players can battle against each other. The game features four new campaigns such as the Cold War, the New World, Napoleon, and the Alexander the Great. There are different ways to complete each task.
The player uses the units during the gameplay such as tanks, musketeers, slingers, aircraft carriers, nuclear missiles, and more.
In the game, the player takes on the role of the leader, and his goal is to establish his empire, recruit an army, and controls a set of units during fight including aerial, sea and land units. The title serves as the expansion pack to the original game Rise of Nations and the 2nd title developed by Big Huge Games.
